„God is born”…

As Christmas draws near, we would like to remind you of the family Christmas carol of the Princes Lubomirski written for Izabela Lubomirska of Łańcut by Franciszek Karpiński, the Song on the Birth of Our Lord, popularly called "God is born". The text of the song was written in Dubiecko on the San river.

Prince Izabela Lubomirska – a patron and collector of art of the Rococo period. Because of light blue dresses she wore, she was called the Light Blue Marquise in her own lifetime. She was the wife to Grand Marshal of the Crown – Stanisław Lubomirski and mother to Konstancja Rzewuska, Izabela Potocka and Aleksandra Potocka.

Among other things, the Wilanów Palace, the Ursynów Palace (at that time called the Bliss) and Mon Coteau Palace (Szuster's Palace) belonged to her. She put a cornerstone for the building of the National Theatre in Warsaw and was an initiator of a conversion of the Łańcut castle in the Rococo style at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

One of the most outstanding woman in Poland of the 18th century actively participated in politics of her camp, seeking acquiring both foreign manor houses and gentry estates. Apart from political activities, she stood out as a progressive protector of peasants. She was a member of adopting lodge of Charitableness in 1783.
